Inside the BASIS Independent Dublin School Project
When it comes to construction, few approaches are as sustainable, or as demanding, as adaptive reuse involving significant seismic upgrades. Rather than breaking ground on an entirely new campus, the BASIS Independent Dublin school project reimagined an existing multi-story office building from the inside out. The result is a 75,831 sf learning facility that respects the structure’s original framework while delivering a purpose-built space for modern education.
Inside, the completed build-out delivers contemporary classrooms designed for focused, collaborative learning, along with administrative offices and dedicated student support spaces. Beyond the walls, the project includes new sports fields and site improvements which round out the campus and reinforce a simple truth: a great school is about far more than the rooms where lessons happen. The finished facility gives students, teachers, and staff a cohesive environment that feels intentional rather than retrofitted.
The new school’s story does not end indoors. Alongside the classroom building, the BASIS Independent Dublin campus adds a new 9,134 sf gymnasium as well as two new outdoor sports fields where previously a parking lot stood essentially unused for decades. Whereas the school demanded working within an existing shell, the gym offered a chance to build a brand new space for sports, activities, and community events. Together, the work showcases Pacific Construction’s range of expertise, from reinventing an aging structure to raising a new one from the ground up, all in service of a single growing campus.
Ultimately, the BASIS Independent Dublin project shows how thoughtful construction can breathe new life into an older building while adding new facilities that expand what a site can offer. By turning an underutilized structure into a vibrant learning environment and complementing it with a modern gymnasium, and new sports fields, Pacific Construction has delivered lasting value that will benefit students for many years to come.
